It is a legislative demand for all fire safety officers to refresh
the fire safety adviser training every 3 years. This refresher course
has been made essential by the Queensland Building Fire and Safety
Regulation 2008.
ASLS (Australian Safety and Learning Systems) is a fire safety consultancy that offers a single day recertification for all the candidates who have completed the above mentioned course and further wish to become recertified in order to continue services as Fire Safety Adviser. This single day recertification course can be entered upon from the first day of ASLS's public course program.

The enrolling candidates would have to supply the following essential documents on the first day of the fire training course:
1. Certified copy and original document of participant's Statement of Attainment for the eight units of capability which comprise the Fire Safety Adviser course. The Statement of Attainment certificate must belong to the validity period of three years from the issue date.
2. Written proof, preferably a letter from participant's employer reassuring that the candidate is in service as a Fire Safety Adviser in their organization

A Fire Safety Adviser (FSA) is needed in all ‘high occupancy buildings' mentioned in the Queensland Building Fire and Safety Regulation 2008. ‘High occupancy building' has been described as:
• Building having 30 or more employees
• Class 2 or class 3 building that is more than 25m in height
• Risky premises
• Class 4 building

• Arms the participants with necessary knowledge, information and skills to cope with emergency fire situations and to execute fire prevention plans deftly
